D.C. Museums and Ikea Trips
In the first term this year our class took a few field trips. In November we went to Washington D.C. for a day trip. First we visited The Air and Space Museum. It has been under construction for a few years and still is, so over half of it was blocked off. One of my favorite exhibits there was all of the flight attendant and pilot uniforms through the years. After visiting there we went to the Museum of the Bible. We did a Virtual Reality tour through the Holy Land. We also did the Washington Revelations ride. It is a virtual tour/ride through D.C. to see how certain monuments and buildings connect with the bible. There was a new exhibit we got to visit called The Megiddo Mosaic. It is a very beautiful mosaic from one of the earliest churches that was just discovered in the last few years. It has the earliest mention of God and Jesus ever discovered. It was buried under a jail in Israel. We ended our day in D.C. by going to The Museum of Natural History.
In December for Geography Class we took a field trip to Ikea to experience Swedish culture. We walked around the store and shopped. It was fun to see all the Swedish names of the products and see special products that aren't as common in the United States. At lunch we all had Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, and lingonberry sauce. It was a fun cultural experience.
