Photography and Pottery
In Term 3 we took a photography class. The first week of the class we learned about what photography was, and we got to hear about the history of photography. For most of the class we looked at pictures that our photography teachers took and we talked about what the pictures made us feel when we looked at them. Then at the end of the class we split up into groups and we used an Instax camera to take pictures with some sort of meaning behind them. The second week, we learned about different settings on real cameras and we got to look at more pictures with different settings in each one and got to see the differences between the settings. Last week, we learned about different kinds of angles to take pictures. My favorite picture was the three point view. The three point view was when you would have someone stand in the center of the image with any kind of symmetrical background. This was one of my favorite classes this term.
For one of our field trips this term we went to the Museum of the Bible. We got to use V.R. to learn about the Bible, and there was a ride that made you feel like you were flying and it taught you more about the history of the Bible. There was a machine that you would put your date of birth in and it would print out a bookmark and on one side of it, it would tell you how many years you were born after Christ. We had a fun road trip home and had a great time at the Museum of the Bible.
For one of our art classes we got to learn about pottery and each student got to make a clay box. We went to this lady’s house, where she actually makes all kinds of things out of clay and sells them online. The first week we made the box out of clay and we got to put whatever design we wanted too on it, and then the second week we painted them and put a glaze over top of the paint. We all got our boxes mailed to us towards the end of the school year.
