Games of Tag
This term and this year in Paloma I have been teaching gym class to the students of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades. It has been a fun experience, and this blog is going to be a list of a few games that I used and the rules for these games.
Octopus tag.
Make a rectangle on the area where you are playing. It should be big enough for everyone playing to comfortably run around in.
Choose 2 people to be it (this number can be adjusted based on how many people are playing.) they will stand in the middle of the rectangle.
The it people must agree on a descriptor to call each round. (If you’re a boy, If you're a girl, If you brushed your teeth this morning).
Anyone who fits the descriptor must run from one end of the rectangle to the other. If they are tagged, they sit down. They cannot move from that spot.
Those who are sitting then join the taggers in tagging the other players.
The winner is the last player standing after multiple rounds of this.
Knight tag
See a in octopus tag.
Each player must choose an arm to use and place the other arm just above their tailbone horizontally.
The other finger is held with one finger pointed and the rest a fist.
If you poke someone with your finger on their back they must sit down and are out.
Once the amount of players has shrunk so far that the square is too big, those who are out create a wall and shrink the area based on how many people there are. Whoever is last person standing wins.
